The Handmade Holiday Gift

For the past few Christmases, Dan has made me gifts.  Every year, whatever he makes ends up being my favorite gift.  One year he made me a wooden key holder which now hangs in my kitchen.  That same year he made me a coat holder sign with our last name engraved in it.

Another year he made me an amazing plant holder scrap iron I’d come across the previous summer in his bosses junk pile.  That year he also made me 2 awesome knives, one out of a horseshoe and the other out of a rasp and an antler.Last year he made me an owl and a heart, both of which he welded out of horseshoes.

This year, he made me another owl (he says this owl is much improved over the previous),

flowers made out of nuts and washers,

a gear chain heart

and a toothbrush holder.

Besides wanting to brag on an amazing husband, I want to say thank you.  Thank you for all the hours you spend freezing your butt off after your day job to create such beautiful pieces of art.  I would even go a step further, thank you to all of the crafters, welders, woodworkers, and creatives pour their heart and souls into beautiful things only to give them away.  While you may not be buying someone a $500 TV, the time and effort you put into your beautiful handmade gifts is absolutely priceless and your handiwork is truly treasured.
