The Tulip is a one-of-a-kind reclaimed tulipwood pedestal dining table, handmade in England. Three metres long, it seats eight comfortably and ten when it matters. One piece — when it's gone, it's gone.

The Craft The top is reclaimed solid tulipwood, 4cm thick — harder and denser than pine, with a finer grain that moves less with changes in temperature and humidity. Hand-sealed with varnish and lightly whitewashed by hand, the finish preserves the natural grain while giving the surface a soft, pale translucency that deepens in character rather than showing wear.

Unlike a factory-cut top, the planks taper naturally, the edges carry a gentle wave, and the surface varies subtly in level. This is not imprecision — it is the direct evidence of hand workmanship and genuinely salvaged material.

The base is hand-carved reclaimed pine in a distinctive gothic pedestal profile, built with traditional hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery and finished with a whitewash technique refined over more than a decade. The iron cross-bolt at the centre is structural and original, not decorative. Every base comes out slightly differently. Fully handmade in our Surrey workshop by a local master craftsman — never factory-finished, never flat-packed.

Aesthetic: Gustavian · French Farmhouse · Scandinavian Country. Finish: hand-applied whitewash and natural varnish seal.

In Your Home A statement table. Pair with tufted linen chairs in natural tones — the kind of table people stop at when they walk into the room.

Character Note Reclaimed tulipwood carries its history visibly: knots, grain and tonal shifts are the record of the wood's previous life, not flaws. Because this is a single salvaged piece, no two tops from this batch will ever be identical. This is the last one.

FAQ

Is this a one-off?
Yes. It's made from a single salvaged tulipwood top — no two are identical, and this is the last one from this batch.

What size is it and how many does it seat?
Three metres (300cm) long, seating eight comfortably and ten when needed.

Why tulipwood rather than pine?
Tulipwood is harder and denser, with a finer grain that moves less with temperature and humidity changes.

Why is the surface slightly uneven?
The planks taper and the edges wave because the timber is genuinely salvaged and worked by hand — it's evidence of origin, not a fault.

Can I order another like it?
Not identical — this top is unique. We can build bespoke tables in other reclaimed timbers; lead time approx. 10–12 weeks.
